Boxes
Box Series started in 1993 after conversations and encouragement from Peter Whitehead, iconic filmmaker, novelist and sculptor. First outlet for using fragments of once beautiful and precious objects arranged into possible 'games', evoking nostalgia. Two early boxes selected by Peter Blake for inclusion into 1994 'Box Art' Show at Nottingham Castle Gallery.
When viewed by Mike Goldmark he commented 'Right amount of construction and graphic element', 'From the heart', and 'Almost obsessional'. Have been chosen and shown in many Midlands Open Exhibitions, the series continues to grow and explore without becoming 'precious'. The 'Million Pound Note' in 'Found' and the 'Lion, Key and Cage' in 'Catch Me If You Can' are more elements of fun.
